Breeding goal and mission

p1010944_edited Our breeding is focused on excellent breeding Suffolks who find their way into both hobby and commercial sheep farmer. The Suffolk is ideally slachtlamvaderdier because of its unparalleled growth. Of interest is that property in the primary screen to keep breeding. This growth must also manifest itself in a strong conformation of the entire carcass without fattening. Finally, the Suffolk sheep remain a useful, low-birth problems, good maternal qualities and correct legs.

In recent years, the breeding in England (and to a lesser extent in Europe) is sometimes too much development in select animals with particularly dense (but not so good) legs and large, heavy heads. It looks very impressive, but it is certainly not true that animals also economically and from the aspect of welfare "good". Heavy legs and large heads provide more birth problems (caesareans) and vitality of lambs often takes off. Moreover, heavy bones say nothing about a good conformation. p1020557

With the overshoot in this traditional breeding direction (primarily for breeding "show sheep") is the desire of a major customer (mongrels breeder) lost sight of. For the hobbyist, who is not waiting for birth difficulties, the Suffolk as less attractive.

Meanwhile in England a turning point in breeding to establish, under which breeding values (Blup, best linear unbiased prediction) is increasingly selected dekram. Furthermore, we use more and more of New Zealand breeding in this country because it recognizes all eeder doorgedrongendat is "easy care" combined with growth of the future.

The mission of Specop Suffolks is: "To strive to correct pretty Suffolks, in full accordance with the characteristics of the breed, but equally valid in today's commercial sheep farming. We strive for long, large sheep with a good size. Excellent and large muscle growth without fat. also given strong legs and good personal health of the animal. "
